Building relationships through human touch and smiles!
Sunshine Welfare Action Mission (SWAMI Home) - Bringing sunshine to the elderly. The IWA - SWAMI Home is part of IWA’s care initiative, a humble endeavour to connect with the elderly residents of SWAMI Home. IWA commits to an annual donation towards this association and also convenes every quarter to celebrate birthdays of the residents here. Apart from cake cutting, IWA collects a wish list from these residents and contributes towards its fulfilment on occasions such as the above, and also for Christmas. IWA members donate generously and spend time bringing cheer and being a part of these celebrations. Do bring your friends and family to volunteer at SWAMI Home - the experience of feeling the warmth of the senior community is priceless.
Volunteering at the SWAMI Home: we celebrate birthdays during quarterly events for the residents by cutting a cake and giving gifts to the uncles and aunties who celebrated their birthdays during the quarter.
In December 2019, we celebrated Christmas by singing carols and dance performances by members of the IWA Music Club and their families. The crowd-puller was a member’s spouse dressed as Santa Claus, bringing joy to all. We also organised Christmas gifts for all of the 290 members of the pioneer generation of SWAMI Home.
All the events were enthusiastically supported by IWA members and families and were enjoyed and appreciated by the old folks of SWAMI home.
We create awareness amongst our members that this ‘silver tsunami’ will indeed impact all of us and we need to take care of our elderly. Bring your friends and children to volunteer at SWAMI Home, the experience of sharing our time with the elderly is priceless.
