The IWA Acts of Kindness Club (AOK), a club completely dedicated to philanthropy, had a rewarding year. The year started with celebrating Earth Day in April. It was a day of being kind to our planet and members chopped vegetables at a local soup kitchen, preparing meals for 6000+ needy families.
This was followed by Mother’s Day in May, with an outreach event which benefitted two social enterprises with one event - Angel Hearts, an organization for bereaving mothers and The Enabling Village, an institution supporting the differently abled. Members spent the morning creating greeting cards for fundraising and were served fresh coffee and desserts made by some budding baristas.
‘Thoughtful Thursday’ in October saw AOK collaborating with IWA’s Games Club and the Singapore Malayalee Association (SMA). IWA members had a chance to engage the elderly in an afternoon of fun and games at a new community centre called Carelight Wellness Centre.
Ending the year with another lovely act of kindness, AOK celebrated Diwali of 2019 with the elderly patients at the HCA Hospice Care. Thematic activities, food, mandala artwork, gifts, music and dance were arranged to allow the IWA volunteers to have a deeper engagement with the beneficiaries.
In the coming year, AOK is looking forward to strengthening relationships with our existing partners. The club also hopes to bring new volunteering opportunities to its members.
