Migrant Workers Support

There are nearly one million migrant workers in Singapore, constituting about 20 percent of the total population. Many of them work in the construction and shipping industries and have a big hand in building this beautiful country. Living in Singapore is made easier and more comfortable thanks to domestic workers who take care of our homes and families. TWC2 and HOME are organizations which register and support migrant workers in need who have ongoing legal or medical issues that require them to remain in Singapore, unemployed, until their issues are resolved.  IWA I Care Migrant Workers Relief Team supports these 2 organizations.

Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2) promotes fair treatment of migrant workers and envisions a society that recognizes and values their important contribution to our households, economy and country. IWA Migrant workers Relief team supports TWC2 in many ways. Translation of documents, celebrating festivals with the workers, monetary contributions and conducting need based drives, to name a few.

Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics (H.O.M.E) works for the well being, justice and empowerment of migrant workers and victims of human trafficking in Singapore.

Recent Activity: Migrant workers welfare team had a energetic Bollydance session with 40 residents of H.O.M.E. on 27th April 2017. It was a fun filled event which spread cheer and laughter around as the beneficiaries played games and learned dance moves from Sampada. At the end of the session members of IWA also donated fruits to the beneficiaries keeping in mind nutritional needs of these domestic workers.
